Racing to the County Office to File My Fictitious Business Name

Busy people can still make time to start a business.
I found myself in a race against "quitin' time" (as well as traffic) as I sped out from my second meeting of the day to go file my chosen fictitious business name at the county office in San Diego.

Did I make it?

Watch and see.

(No speeding laws were harmed in the making of this film)

The Business Plan Overview

Building tangible business plans has been an addiction of mine since my first formal one created in 2008. Since then I have improved upon the basic concept and started including a marketing portfolio as well. And now all of my students get to use my digital blueprints to help them in creating their first Business/Marketing Portfolios.

What you need to get started:

  • A three ring binder
  • Plastic sheet covers
  • Dividers (if you like)
  • Print outs of your plan to insert

What are just the basics of what goes in it?

  • A professional looking title page complete with your info, tagline & branding
  • Print outs of your Bio, Mission and Company Summary
  • Your ideas for, or current menu of, products and services
  • All financial information on your business and projections that you can gather
  • A nice timeline with goals you want to complete.

Additionally you should include:

  • A full analysis of your preferred target market
  • A detailed marketing plan of how you will acquire your clients or consumers
  • Digital copies of all your printed marketing materials (Business Card, brochure...)
  • Administration forms
  • Welcome emails
  • Client retention plans
  • Your certifications, licenses, insurance...

It is so nice to have all of your plans and materials in one place. It also looks good when you go to speak with investors and/ or you need to find information quickly.

Got something you'd like to add that I am missing? Let us know in the comments.

Happy planning!

The Business Vision Part II.

Building a Vision Board does not have to take 3 days, though I have done one that took much more than that! This one was very specific to my new business "Wellvolutionary Wellness" and only took about 2 hours.
Materials:
  • 3 magazines (Success, Dream homes and Massage & Bodyworks)
  • print outs from Google images and my personal stash,
  • 1 brochure,
  • 1 Home Depot paint combo sample
  • some old scrapbook paper
  • a poster board
  • scissors
  • hot glue
  • paint marker

Creating a vision board is about setting your intentions. By itself, it might not do anything, but put some brilliance storming, some collaboration, some system creation and some committed effort inside of your vision and you will have a successful business to be proud of.

On your mark, get set ...GO!

The Business Vision Part I.

On the last day of 2013, I was privileged to attend a Vision Boarding event put on by Kim Gambino. It was perfect timing as I am still in the visionary process of developing this soon-to-be-legally named holistic business. Now Vision Boarding is not just about putting a bunch of dreamy pictures of your loveliest fantasies up on a poster for you to drool at everyday. It's about taking a look at where you've been, how you've been and who you've been, remembering to express graditude for the blessings as well as the lessons, celebrating all successes big and small. It's about creating change where necessary and choosing to grow in new directions. How exciting is that?!

In my next blog "The Business Vision Part II" I will unveil the vision of this new business I am building from the ground up.

Cheers,

Spilling the Beans or is it Can of Worms?

Recently on Facebook, I hinted that something amazing was about to happen and amidst the taunts of "OMG You're expecting" it was nice to see that my dearest friends were anticipating the news. So today I launched The Business Brilliance Project where I let people in on my every move, creating a new holistic business from the ground up. And while I am excited and 110% invested in making this happen, I am also freaking out just a little.
Let me explain...

As I mention in my welcome video, I am a mom to two girls (12 and 14) as well as a full time college student and part time career development teacher. I have had the last week off from pretty much all duties and it was amazing experiencing that type of freedom as it hasn't happened all at once like that since as long as I can remember. I am so energized right now that I've had a hard time getting to sleep and I've been popping out bed early with equal high energy. I recognize that! It's called Drive! I am so driven right now by this whole project so "spilling the beans" today about it just made me ecstatic!

But will it last? What happens when school for the kids and myself starts next Monday and I start a new teaching session in February? Did I really just open that proverbial can of worms? Well you know what? That's life!

One of the things that I promise is to be vulnerable and transparent. I mean really...no one can be "on" all the time, even me. So I will blog even when that happens and you'll be able to see my methods (or lack therof) when those days of low motivation hit.

So ready, get set and GOoooooo!

Thanks for coming along,

Something Wicked Brilliant This Way Comes!

In just two days from today we're about to start a whole new year. "Hey 2014, I love you and we haven't even met yet!"

Who am I? I am just a mom to two adolescents, who also happens to be in school full time while teaching career development classes to soon-to-be holistic therapists at Mueller College in San Diego and has operated my own holistic practice since 2009.

But wait, there's more! This year, I am on a mission. It is a mission to build a new holistic therapy business from the ground up, right in front of my students' eyes. This means that I have to change my target market from previous businesses I've run and also my branding. It will have a new DBA ("Doing Business As" name), a new business banking account, new administration, operations and marketing strategies. It truly will be built from the ground up and with all the tools and resources that I teach in my Career Development classes and the advanced marketing workshops I produce at Mueller College in San Diego.

Why on earth does this matter to you my friend?

Well, during the process, I will be giving followers of "The Business Brilliance Project" behind the scenes glimpses of:

  • My Business Plan
  • Tracking notes from marketing campaigns
  • Video Interviews with professionals such as bankers and lawyers and holistic professionals
  • Video and blogged journal entries of my successes and challenges.
  • Access to my custom created operations and administration systems documents
  • Special invitations to events that can walk you step by step through educational design and marketing creations of your own that can give you a business boost and high return on time and resource investment.
...and more that I probably haven't thought of yet since this is truly the beginning.

Watch it all unfold by following The Brilliance Coach on Facebook
and clicking "Yes" on the linked invitation to join The Business Brilliance Project.

I can't wait to begin sharing with you!
